MP3: Blitzen Trapper – “Love The Way You Walk”

County/folk rockers, Portland based Blitzen Trapper, have been nothing short of prolific since they signed to Sub Pop in 2007, en route to releasing their third full length LP since then, their sixth in total, called American Goldwing.

After releasing the title cut, the quintet are giving away another new song, this time “Love The Way You Walk Away”, as a free download. It’s a rich folksy ballad with hints of harmonica, intertwining folk and country in the absolute most subtle demeanor. As expected from Blitzen Trapper by now, the song’s foundation is built on fierce acoustic guitar plucks, frontman Eric Earley’s hearty voice, and his tales of Americana.

Check both tracks out below; American Goldwing drops September 13th.

MP3: Nerves Junior – “Kale”

We have been on top of Nerves Junior from the very beginning, posting the first song they posted on their Bandcamp page in early June, and assuring all of you that we’d be on that shit the moment they come out with a new track. The time has come.

The Louisville based rockers, with an obvious fondness for electronica and synthesizers, have just released “Kale,” which follows in the footsteps of “As Bright As Your Night Light”: it’s dark and mysterious, matching melodic guitar harmonies with electronic reverberation, but also has a booming climax, making the song fairly more accessible.

The song will be featured on the band’s forthcoming debut, also called As Bright As Your Night Light, which is out September 6th via Sonabast! Records. Check out “Kale” below:

Fun loving Brit poppers The Kooks are on the prowl, having just announced a nation wide tour – a return to the States for the first time in three years – in conjunction with their new album, which hits stores September 13th via Astralwerks.

We’ve heard a tune from Junk Of The Heart, the light hearted poppy “Is It Me,” and now the band’s released the most upbeat, and Kooks-like song yet with the title track. “Junk Of The Heart” is a catchy, radio friendly single, sure to make the rounds on BBC Radio, one of those gems that makes you sway from side to side and even do a little finger snappin. Luke Pritchard sounds so jovial and positive, really leading the way on this one. Hear “Junk Of The Heart” after the jump.

Warpaint – “Billie Holiday” (Deluxe Edition)

Warpaint – “Billie Holiday” (Deluxe Edition)

In 2008 when all girl art rockers Warpaint released their debut EP Exquisite Corpse, it was bound to receive attention from a rather large following due to the involvement of one John Frusciante, who produced the record. Though album highlight “Billie Holiday” – fun fact: Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer plays the drums on it – did not make the cut onto their full length The Fool, the girls are now including a revamped edition of the song on a deluxe edition of the LP, set to drop September 19th via Rough Trade.

The new version was mixed by Pulp bassist Steve Mackey, adds faint hints of bass and rhythms throughout, and shares a bit more of a polished feel to it. Check it below and see for yourself.

Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross – Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (7 Minute Score Snippet)

Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross – Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (7 Minute Score Snippet)

As you are well aware of by now, Nine Inch Nails kingfish and recent Academy Award winner Trent Reznor has teamed up with writing partner Atticus Ross and director David Fincher for a second time, since working together on 2009′s The Social Network, to score the soundtrack for the Hollywood remake of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo.

A while back when the trailer was released we were given the pleasure of hearing Reznor’s re-envisioning of Led Zeppelin’s “The Immigrant Song,” which featured vocals from Yeah Yeah Yeahs rock goddess Karen O. Reznor has now taken to Twitter to announce a new snippet of the forthcoming score, a lengthy opus of atmospheric textures and brooding moments. Listen to it below; the Daniel Craig-starring Girl With The Dragon Tattoo is out to ruin your Christmas in December.

Beach House Perform New Song

Beach House Perform New Song

Dream pop advocates Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally a.k.a. Beach House premiered a new song when they played a gig in New York a while back, and than played it again whilst in Minehead, U.K. for the Animal Collective curated ATP Festival.

Last week, the duo was in London for another ATP Festival (this one curated by Portishead) and played the “experimental” song again, though a thoroughly reworked version of it. It’s fascinating to watch the evolution of the nameless new song from the collection of videos available; the latest, however, finds Beach House taking the heavy percussive beat down a notch, and presenting it as a hazy recollection of sorts, powered by Legrand’s awesome vocals. Watch the clip of them at London’s ATP Fest below:
